Weekly lessons

The Joy of Developing Talent

Each child in the Studio has a weekly individual lesson that is given according to their concentration level on that day. Most Book 1 students quickly  manage a 30 min lesson.

A very young child will of course have a shorter concentration span in lessons, so when they are finished with their lesson, (sometimes only a few minutes) the rest of the lesson is dedicated to  the parent. We discuss practice ideas and the  skills that we are working on in more detail, in order to help you support your child's practice and  to be able to progress quickly at home.

Reading is addressed only after the basic skill of listening and playing music has been accomplished. Suzuki children learn music based on the principle of how they learn their mother tongue. First a child listens to their language first, then begins slowly to speak it mastering intricacies quickly and finally they learn to read their language later. At the instrument this translates to "listen, play what you hear and then when you have mastered that, begin to read"

Group lessons take place during the semester on specific Wednesday afternoons or Saturday mornings. These are fun lessons for the children and their peers and take place instead of the individual lessons that week. They are an integral part of your child's learning process and a fundamental element of the Suzuki Method.
